Join our team! - Credit Control Officer
Ballymena Credit Union Ltd (BCCU) requires a Temporary Credit Control Officer (Maternity Cover). This role will be part-time 30 hours per week. This role will primarily be based in our Ballymena office, but the successful candidate may be required to travel to work in the Coleraine, Antrim or Randalstown office on an ad-hoc basis.

To be agreed with successful candidate. Flexible working in terms of both start and finish time, consistent with the needs of credit union operations.
The Role:
As a Credit Control Officer, you will report directly to the Credit Manager. You will regularly work with members using face-to-face, telephone and online communications, providing the highest quality service and advice. Some of your responsibilities and duties will include:
- Delivering a high standard of member service.
- Monitoring, pursuing and taking late payments by all agreed methods, following Credit Union Policy & Procedure.
- Timely and effective collection of all debts and member payments.
- Communicating with members by telephone, email, text, face to face and by written correspondence.
- Dealing with third party correspondence regarding loan arrears, with due attention to Data Protection legislation, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) Guidance and Fair Treatment of Vulnerable Customers Guidance.
- Maintaining records of non-payment/agreed payment plans accurately in the Credit Union software.
- Making arrangements for the formal recovery of bad debts.
- Conducting member interviews and establishing repayment plans.
Essential Criteria:
- 5 or more GCSE’s including Maths and English (Grades A-C).
- Excellent member service skills.
- Excellent communication and team working skills.
- Excellent numerical skills.
- Confidence in using IT software such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to converse with members effectively and in a professional manner.
Desirable Criteria:
- Minimum 1 years’ experience within the last 5 years as a Credit Control Officer.
- 2 A-levels at Grade C or above.
- Knowledge of Credit Union principles and ethics.
- Previous experience in the use of NI Courts Small Claims Court portal.
- Previous experience of working in a Credit Union environment.
- A relevant qualification/training in finance or related subject
